Rainy day

Today, it’s gone from a lovely, hot, sunny morning to a cool, grey day of off-and-on thunderstorms.  While I’m certainly fond of both, I have a special fondness for rain and storms and was delighted by the day’s transformation.  So much so, in fact, that I spent a good portion of the afternoon curled up on the couch, watching out the window while reading poetry and farm blogs, and even playing a bit of guitar.

It’s still raining off and on even now and it’s almost dark, but the world outside looks clean.  And green.  Very, very green.  The smell is indescibable – damp earth, fresh grass, and the sweetness that comes after a good spring rain.  Although I spent some time away, cleaning and making dinner, I’m back on the couch again, curled up under a quilt, and dreaming up ways that I can make my life a bit more sustainable this week.
